Reading and Writing Skills 2 is the partner course to Reading and Writing Skills 1. Reading and Writing Skills 2 will continue to help lay a foundation for the use of English in the future, at work and in research. This will be achieved by strengthening your grammatical accuracy and vocabulary usage in more practical situations.
目的
Objectives
You will enhance your view on cultural and historical backgrounds of the English-speaking world, as well as current global issues, by critical reading of appropriate level-graded materials. The main objectives are:(1) Consolidate vocabulary and grammar studied in Reading and Writing Skills 1
(2) Further improve reading speed
(3) Gain accuracy in paragraph-level writing ability
到達目標
Outcomes
Students will further improve their understanding of grammar and how to read critically. This understanding will greater enhance students’ reading speed, in gaining main points and in answering specific questions about content. Students will gain a better understanding of how to write clear, concise and grammatically accurate paragraphs that are similar to those necessary in well-known English tests.This class is devised to help provide the following:
To broaden an outlook on Nature/Human Beings/ Society
To think logically and critically
To communicate ideas
To develop a sense of Internationalization (cross-cultural communication/knowledge of foreign languages/knowledge of other peoples/knowledge of International Affairs)
To CV students
The Department of Civil Engineering designates this class under learning/education as “Type (E) Nature/Social Studies: Enhancing the ability to carry out Civil Engineering via a thorough grounding and a greater understanding of Nature/Humanities/Social Science”.
To EE students who take Electrical, Electronics and Information Systems Engineering courses.

履修上の注意
Course notes prerequisites
Students must earn a score of 60% or more and be in attendance for 2/3 of classes in order to pass.
Less than 2/3 attendance will result in failure regardless of the reason for the absence.
